In Microsoft Teams, team owners have the ability to easily add or remove members directly from the Teams client, while Teams administrators can perform the same tasks through the Teams admin center. However, adding multiple members to multiple teams can be a time-consuming task for Teams administrators.
Specmasoft’s Office 365 Manager is a Teams Management tool that provides a convenient solution for importing bulk members into Microsoft Teams from a CSV file, eliminating the need for complex PowerShell scripts. To achieve this, include required team details (Team name, Team Id) and user details in the CSV file. You can find the complete list of supported fields in this sample template CSV file.
Steps to Import Users into Microsoft Teams from a CSV File
Follow these steps to add multiple users as members to multiple teams in bulk from a CSV file.
- Open the Office 365 Manager app UI console.
- Go to the Teams page.
- Within the Teams tab, under the Update Members section, select the Import Members action.
- In the next UI pop-up, click on the “Download sample CSV file” link to get a template CSV file for importing team members.
- Subsequently, replace the team details (Team name and Team id) as well as the user details (User’s UPN and Role) within the template CSV file. Alternatively, adjust your existing CSV file to align with the format of the template CSV file.
- Select your CSV file by clicking the Browse button. This will populate the CSV file details in the grid.
- Finally, click the Import Users button to initiate the process of adding team memberships.
- Keep an eye on the action’s progress and status in the action result window. If needed, you can export the action results by selecting the Export button.
This feature helps you to select both teams and users from a CSV file for the membership update. However, if you wish to exclusively select teams from a CSV file or multiple teams from a custom report, the tool also offers an alternative feature: Bulk Add or Remove Users as Members/Owners in Microsoft Teams
