Office 365 Manager Release Notes – 2.8.0.0

We are delighted to announce the release of Office 365 Manager‘s latest version, V 2.8.0.0. This version brings significant improvements and new features across Microsoft 365 user management, bulk license management, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365 Groups, and various other aspects of the Microsoft 365 environment. The latest updates further enhance management efficiency, reporting depth, and user control across the platform.

Below, we present a detailed breakdown of features, enhancements, and issue fixes in this release.

New Features & Enhancements

  • Custom Reports with Advanced Filters: Users can now create custom reports with basic and complex filters, advanced queries, and tailored columns.
  • View and Manage Users’ Group Memberships from the Users Report: You can now choose a user in the report and see all their group memberships. You can easily add or remove groups from this view.
  • Update Users’ Group Memberships via CSV: Import users (UPN) via CSV to efficiently update user group memberships.
  • Bulk License Management from CSV: Import users via CSV (UPN) to quickly update licenses with flexible selection options in the app.
  • Bulk Add/Remove Members for Groups & Teams from CSV: Provide user UPNs via CSV and select groups/teams in the UI to add or remove members.
  • M365 Usage & Activity Reports: Usage and activity reports are supported for user, group, and app usage across Teams, SharePoint, Exchange, and OneDrive.
  • MFA V2 Reports with Graph API: Get MFA reports aligned with Conditional Access policies for better insights.
  • Mailbox Usage & Archive Reports: Enhanced mailbox reports now include archive usage, item counts, and auto-expanding archive settings.
  • Site Storage & Permissions Reports Enhanced: Site storage metrics, file documents, and permissions reports have been enhanced.
  • OneDrive Admin Reports: Report on primary and secondary admins across OneDrive sites.
  • Enhanced On-Premises AD Sync Reports: New reports identify Dir Sync-enabled objects, errors, and provisioning issues.
  • Service Account Dependency (Basic Authentication) Removed: Modern authentication replaces service account usage across the app.
  • PnP App Dependency Removed: Dependency removed in SharePoint Online connection.

Microsoft 365 Users

  • View and Manage Users’ Group Memberships from the Users Report: You can now select a user in the report (or action UI) to view all available group memberships for that user. From there, you can easily add or remove groups as needed.
  • Update Group Memberships by Importing Users from CSV is supported. Provide only Users’ UPNs in the CSV, select the required groups/teams in the app UI, and add (or remove) the users from the selected groups.
  • Update Microsoft 365 Licenses by Importing Users from CSV is supported. Provide only Users’ UPNs in the CSV, pick the required licenses or specific license services in the app UI, and assign (or remove) the users accordingly.
  • Update/Modify Bulk Users via CSV action has been enhanced: Employee Type and Employee Hire Date updates are now supported, with improvements to Manager field updates.
  • User Group Membership Reports are now available (e.g., All Group Memberships by User, Microsoft 365 Group Memberships, Security Group Memberships, Microsoft Teams Memberships, All Security-Enabled Group Memberships, Distribution Group Memberships, Dynamic Group Memberships).
  • On-Premises AD – Dir Sync Related Reports are supported (e.g., Dir Synced Users, Dir Sync Enabled Users, Users with Dir Sync Provisioning Error).
  • Password Policy and Expiration Details (Max Password Age, Password Expiry Date, Days to Expire Password) are included in the default Users report.
  • Users with Proxy or Alias Email Address: The Proxy Email Addresses field is now supported in relevant reports.
  • MFA V1 Reports: Service Account (Basic Authentication) dependency has been removed and replaced with Modern Authentication.
  • MFA V2 Reports with Graph API: Conditional Access Policy-based MFA reports are supported (e.g., All Users MFA Registration Details (V2), MFA Capable Users (V2), MFA Registered Users (V2), and more).
  • Set Usage Location: Alpha2 code handling (Alpha3/Country Name) is supported.
  • Revoke All Refresh Tokens action is now supported.

Microsoft 365 Groups

  • All Groups Report View: View all group types (e.g., Microsoft 365 Groups, Security Groups, Distribution Groups, Mail-enabled Security Groups, and Microsoft Teams Enabled Groups) in a single report, allowing for members management for all group types through a unified update action.
  • Add Bulk Users into Groups (All Group Types) from CSV: Provide Users’ UPNs in the CSV, select the required groups/teams in the app UI, and add the users into the selected groups.
  • Remove Bulk Users from Groups (All Group Types) via CSV Import: Easily remove users by importing their UPNs through a CSV.
  • Update Owners: Supported for Distribution Groups and Security Groups.
  • Mail-enabled Security Groups: Membership updates are now supported.
  • M365 Groups: New reports are supported, including Security Enabled Groups, Role Assignment Enabled Groups, Groups with Classification, and Groups with Proxy Email Addresses.
  • M365 Groups – Expiration-Based Reports: Get insights with new reports, such as Groups with Expiration Date and Expired M365 Groups.
  • Security Groups – Dir Sync-Related Reports: Available reports include Dir Synced Security Groups, Dir Sync Enabled Security Groups, and Security Groups with Dir Sync Errors.
  • All Groups – Members Reports: New insights include reports like Account Disabled Group Members and Account Disabled Group Owners.

Microsoft Teams

  • Enhanced Bulk Teams Creation from CSV: Create multiple teams efficiently using an enhanced CSV-based action.
  • Enhanced Bulk Team Channels Creation from CSV: Create multiple channels across teams with the updated CSV import process.
  • Add Bulk Users into Teams from CSV: Provide Users’ UPNs in a CSV, select the desired teams in the app UI, and add the users to the chosen teams.
  • Remove Bulk Users from Teams via CSV Import: Seamlessly remove users from teams by importing their UPNs through a CSV.
